Are there NICs that don't support RJ-45/copper sfp+ transceivers?
I recently racked a poweredge R760. I installed a dell 10gb transceiver in it and got no activity lights on the nic. I swapped the transceiver with an R750 with a different, but similar nic and it worked in the r750.
I reached out to dell support and was told the NIC in the R760 only supports optical transceivers. The NIC in the R760 is BCM57414 NetXtreme-E 10Gb/25Gb RDMA Ethernet Controller.
In idrac I can see the transceiver, and it is correctly identified, Dell, part: 2K1YV, Type: SFP/SFP+/SFP28, Interface: Direct Attach Copper
