Questions

What is the safest way to update?  (remote idrac, lifecycle with usb, lifecycle with ftp, other method)

Know I wll need to follow the update path suggsted here https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/systems-management-general/idrac7-upgrade-path/647f83d8f4ccf8a8de2ad762?commentId=647f83e4f4ccf8a8de2bb1a1#M28059

With Idrac keen to get to at least 2.30.30.30, as that where HMTL5 interface was brought in.  Should i stop there or update as far as I can?

I was warned there were some fan issues i drac can cause.

Is it worth updating everthing such as the perc h710 min or the gigabit etherenet?

Many Thanks  Damien

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

Please go with the latest version you see on the official website.

12Gen Servers are already removed from the catalog so you need to fetch the latest packaged manually from dell.com and than you can install them trough iDRAC if you have a enterprise version.

Hello,

I would recommend update with this sequence

1.66.65, A00

01 Dec 2014 - download the windows .exe file and supply in the DRAC on the Update page

Wait about 5 minutes for the DRAC to update and reboot. The host will not reboot.

The do the same for this one: supply the windows .exe file

2.10.10.10, A00

05 Apr 2015

Wait about 5 minutes for the DRAC to update and reboot. The host will not reboot.

Next update BIOS to 2.5.2. Download the windows .exe, supply in the DRAC update page. The host will reboot to apply the BIOS

R720/R720-xd BIOS Version 2.5.2, 01 Apr 2015

Then download this ISO. Mount the ISO in the OS and run the suulauncher.

See bottom of page >Installation instructions

Hello,

Follow up> I just notice

Server One R720 3.5" drives

 BIOS 2.6.1

Don't do the BIOS 2.5.2 on this one. It is ok where it is.
