2 CPU R940 UPI Cable Part Number
Salutations!
I recently acquired a R940 that was stripped of parts, including the daughterboard riser for 4 CPUs. I’ve since turned it into a 2 CPU unit, but I’m missing the UPI cables.
Does anyone happen to have the part number for the 2 CPU UPI cables? I believe it should be 53J26, but I want to confirm before I buy the cables.

Hi,
Based on this guide of cabling https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/poweredge-r940/per940_ism_pub/upi-cable-routing?guid=guid-d341baac-3b74-4843-a91f-3f36db4d3fa2&lang=en-us, it seems you wanted to cable it according to Figure 2. Cable routing - Two processor system. As I check in the parts' description DPN# 53J26 is for 4 CPU configuration, whilst DPN# C4V7M is for 2 CPU configuration.

I assume 53J25 won't work for 2 CPU config? C4V7M is a lot harder to find and more expensive overall.

Hi,
Well, there are specifically mentioned on the description of the cables about 2 and 4 CPU configuration, so I would think it might not work. There are circumstances that other users installed the wrong cable on other servers, and it causes fail-safe error which leads to a faulty mainboard.
