What do you think about the Proven Professional Community

We'd like to hear from you. What do you think think about the community? Does it have what you thought it would have in it? Is it missing stuff you'd like to see? What do you like about it? What do you dislike?

We're listening -- let us know!

Nobody has any opinion on this? Ok - what do you LIKE about the community, lets start there.

I like (and I'm impressed with) the enthusiasm and personal drive that I see expressed on this forum very frequently. I also like the fact that this forum has given a lot of momentum and recognition to the Proven Professional program. I think that we would all agree that IT is a relatively young industry, and, just as one technology example, Storage Networking is even younger. We are all continually learning, and this forum definitely helps to facilitate the learning process (through knowledge sharing etc). It's openness is a great way for me (as an EMC employee) to connect, at a professional level, with people outside of EMC. An essential forum. Thanks!

Thanks Richard! I've appreciated seeing instructors like you posting helpful docs. If I was still working in an implementation role, that is the sort of thing I'd have bookmarked.

So it probably comes as no great surprise to those I've interacted with in other EMC online Communities that I think this is a wonderful idea. I've been involved with the Support Forums for a few years now and the ControlCenter Online Community (recently in the process of being rebranded for Ionix) for well over a year. It was not long after that when I started getting involved here. I've only been officially certified since EMC World last year (too busy doing to write the test).

Within the scope of ECN it can be difficult to decide what should be broken out into a separate area from other things. If you make things too granular it can be difficult to find what you are looking for. If you make things too open members stop participating because they see too much "noise" mixed in with the content they really want.

I think this area dedicated to the Proven Professional topic (as well as the subcommunity dedicated to certified PPs) is a very logical and useful "Community" to have broken out. I am still heavily involved in the other areas, but this is a great place to focus less on the technology itself and more on the learning and development that goes in to supporting it (and our careers).

I'm glad to see that this Community remains vibrant and active. It is a testament to the ongoing "life" of our chosen careers in Storage!
