Hello, we get this question alot. You can take your exams in any sequence, so feel free to take the E20-522 when you feel ready. However, you won;'t be awarded your Specialist certification until you also complete the Associate level exam (the E20-001).
At EMC World last week, we had several people who passed the E20-001 AFTER they had already passed a Specialist exam. Only then did they achieve the Specialist certification.
Could you let us know why you're choosing to do the Specialist exam first?

Correct, you would not receive the EMC Proven Professional Specialist credential if you only complete the E20-522. The program is a 'building block'' beginning with the E20-001; it provides a broad foundation in information and storage technologies before 'specializing' in a particular product or technology.
I know that cost is always a concern. Please see this link for some suggestions.
The Information Storage and Management book is only a small investment, and is meant to complement the course. Depending on your experience, and on your dedication to studying the material in the book, it may be very helpful to prepare for the E20-001 exam.
Please let us know what you decide.

because i dont understand the relation between these exams and added to that these exams are very expensive for me to give both the exams within a small period
my main goal is to be clariion certified.
Incase i give only E20-522 at this stage ....i wud not get any certificate of completion ??

thanks for the reply.
so the prometric center should allow me to give the E20-522 rather than insisting me to give E20-001 first as mandatory ??
i would go for clarion certification as i need to be personally satisfied that i did complete it and then take on E20-001 as and when possible and get the specialist certificate from EMC as well

Hi - are you sure your Clariion ETF credential has expired? For this type of question you should email EDServices@EMC.com. The Proven help desk would be able to view your CertTracker account and be sure that you are on the right path.
If your Clariion Foundation credential has expired then you would need to pass the E20-001 Information Storage and Management exam or the E20-040 EMC Technology Foundations exam and the E20-522 exam in order to obtain a Storage Administrator - Clariion Solutions Specialist credential.

Hello again,
Our exams periodically expire due to business and/or industry changes, but that doesn't mean that your certification expires. Generally, once certified you remain certified. DDProven pointed you to an email address where you can confirm whether your current certification remains valid.
Please contact EdSerivces@emc.com to confirm.
