Meet EMC Proven Professional and Newly Certified Data Science Associate: Bryan Miletich

Bryan graduated in 2011 with a Masters in Information Systems and Operations Management from the University of Florida where he had a dual concentration in IT and Supply Chain Management. He currently works at EMC as a candidate in the IT Leadership Program, a rotational college hire program that exposes recent graduates to business and technical skills and processes. Currently, Bryan is rotating within the Private Cloud Infrastructure Group (PCIG) on projects as diverse from building out new servers to working on backup and recovery systems.

Bryan sees the storage industry as moving towards a more service provider-oriented model that contains fewer clients but where those clients require a more integrated sales and reference architecture approach. Bryan believes that storage manufacturers will start selling more to cloud service providers driven by future cloud efficiency and value driven consolidation. In his opinion, most business consumers, except the larger enterprises, will turn to external providers for a ready-made, tested, pre-configured standardized IT services that resemble a utility model.

Bryan participated in the Data Science and Big Data analytics Video ILT and took the corresponding exam to understand new approaches to data mining. The Video ILT course has broadened his horizons on the kinds of analytical opportunities and techniques that are now possible in environments leveraging Big Data.  Some of the material was an extension of coursework he did in college but with an understanding of the practical implementation. In addition to holding the Data Science Associate certification, Bryan is an EMC Cloud ITaaS Expert, an EMC Data Center Architect, Storage Network Design Specialist, a VCP 4 and 5, ITILv3 foundation certified, and a CCNA.

Bryan’s education, training and EMC certifications helped provide a comprehensive framework for thinking about these complex systems but the real world experience of working at EMC is invaluable for placing those subjects into practice. He still regularly reviews his EMC Education Services coursework from exams already taken and passed because he finds them to be very relevant and useful for his day-to-day work.
