How do you study for an exam?

Just a quick poll: how do you study for a certification exam? I know when I took the STF, it was HARD. I had several years of experience before I took it, and I have always gravitated more to the application side of things. So I had to make note cards and have study sessions with some friends to remember some of the key technical topics.

Obviously, we aren't going to allow people to post test questions here in the community. But what are some things we could do to help people study in a collaborative way?

Like I said, I made notecards based on the materials I got from the training classes. What are some of the things you guys have done?

These are great methods!

I think my reasons for making the flash cards are similar to what Juan is saying...actually writing the cards and making sure I haven't missed anything and that I have captured the concept are what cement the topics in my head.

Any other suggestions?

Hi all,

I do like Enderson but I use blue and red markers ;-)

Yesterday I just passed my first Clariion TA exam (E20-520) with a score of 80%.I suggest to review all the course material you get, and although the requiered E-Learnings on the EMC² Education site.Regarding to the e-Learnings i suggest not only listen to the presentations, much more important is that you studie the student guides you can download on each e-Learning. There are some things mentioned wich are very important, and wich the spaeker does go into.

I passed the ISF exam (E20-001) in december and thought this was quiet heavy, but I can tell you - the following courses and exames will be more complex, because it is very deep detail on each technologie.

Congratulations on passing the first CLARiiON TA exam!

Your advice about how to use eLeaning is perfect.  There is a 'supporting materials' tab in every eLearning course, and that's where you'll find student materials.  It's really important that you download those materials and become familiar with them as well as listening to and reading the course materials.

For many people, it's best to use several different strategies to learn something.  Reading, listening, taking notes, organizing notes, drawing out sequences of events....all of these things help to organize the information and reinforce learning before taking an exam. David, to achieve a score of 80%.....you must have done some or all of these things!
