EMC Proven Professional Spotlight: Rodrigo Alves, Jody Goncalves, and Raphael Soeiro

Raphael Soeiro, Jody Goncalves, and Rodrigo Alves all work at EMC Education Services in Franklin, MA. While working in the same physical location, they don’t usually cross paths in the projects they take on. However, for the 2014 Knowledge Sharing Competition, these three EMC Proven Professionals worked together to write “2014: An SDS Odyssey*,” published this month. “Rodrigo, Raphael, and I don’t often work directly together in our day jobs, so it was nice to be able to share information and ideas with them,” said Jody.

The first published Knowledge Sharing article for each of them, the article explores the importance and considerations of storage tiering and classification for implementing an SDS environment.

The authors shared how they came to join forces on developing and writing their Knowledge Sharing article, the experience they brought to the process, and the thought leadership and best practices that their article contribute as the industry adopts Software Defined Storage in greater numbers.

She recently finished the launch of the new Technology Architect EMC Information Storage Solutions Specialist certification. Jody described her thinking on the article as “SDS is relatively new – and not many people have experience with it, nor is much written on the best practices.  We thought we would help shed some light on an area that was important for a successful SDS implementation.”

Rodrigo, whose role focuses on curriculum planning at EMC, added, “We all have several years of work experience in IT, and have learned a lot along the way. Now with the world moving to software-defined everything, I wanted to explore and learn more about this topic,” He hopes that the article will generate discussion on the topic. “I am sure the technology, design, and implementation best practices will quickly evolve as companies adopt it.”
