Best Study resources to become an EMC Proven Professional
Happy new year everyone.
Obvsouly the best study resources will be actual arrays, but since I only have access to my Product CX4, and we may not have every piece of software covered in the exams, are there any recommended books which I can use to fill in the gaps?
We are a single array shop, so anything which covers SAN copy I can't to in real life. I've got QOS on our CX4, as well as RM and PowerPath and I've done a decent amount of scripting with NaviCLI (yes I know I need to upgrade the scripts to use the Secure CLI).
I'm looking at the EMCSA track starting with the CLARiiON Foundations at the Associate Level and possibly moving to the Specialist Level this year.
To be clear I'm not looking for brain dumps, I have to many certificaitons from Microsoft and I understand the disrespect that brain dumps bring to any certification program.
Thanks,
Denny

Denny,
nice to see you around here also, not just on twitter.
Well, normally I would recommend starting off with the ISM book, but that might be a bit too general for your taste. I assume you already have downloaded the NaviSphere simulator? If not, I'd start off with that one since it will allow you to test most of the things that are part of the exams.
Otherwise I don't know if you are in the running for ILTs? If not you can actually purchase the same in a video format which can be quite useful and perhaps combine that with a LIVE virtual classroom.
I guess it depends on what your favorite way would be to learn. Are you more the type to sit down and read and take notes, or do you need the interaction? My favorite is still where you attend a course and have that interaction with the people in that course and the teacher. Usually things come up that are not part of the default training material, but on the other hand with the current economy not everyone has the option of going to courses.
So, what would you like to do and I'm sure that the people here can recommend good alternatives.
Cheers,
Bas

Books are OK with me. I've done a bunch of learning that way.
I would prefer classroom just because as a speaker I know that the Q&A can be the most benefficial part, but cost is always an issue. When we bought our array we bought training with it, but the nearest training facility that I can find is in Dallas, which really sucks because EMC used to have a training center in Irvine, CA which is 30 minutes from my house.

Gina,
I'm a customer and I'm thinking that the E20-001, then the E20-522, then the E20-822 (in the long term) is my path. I like to plan this stuff out well in advance, which is what I did when getting most of my Microsoft Certs.
I've taken the E20-001 sample test on EMC's site and got a 70% on it. I'd like to get that over at least 80-85% before I sit the actual exam. I'd like to get 100% on the exams, but I'm always going to get something wrong since I always take practice exams without resources just like the actual exams.
I was hoping that the EMC site would have a list of recommended books for each exam like the Microsoft certification site does.
Thanks,
Denny
