Trouble using Vostro 1500 and Dell 3300MP
I work at a library and we've recently purchased several Dell Vostro 1500's running Windows Vista Business. We also have a Dell 3300MP. I've had no trouble using the MP with the laptop the library purchased for me to use, however, a few weeks ago I tried to plug it into some of our other laptops and got a black screen projected and it also made the laptop screen go dark. Mine would automatically detect the projecter, resize the screen, and project the image.
Yesterday when trying to use the MP I had a similiar issue with my machine. It didn't black out my screen, it resized it to the typical resolution it had in past uses, but, it didn't project an image on the screen. It did show the two white boxes that say "1024x768 RGB" and information such as that, but, no image came from it.
I have changed nothing on my laptop aside from normal updates. Anyone know what is up?

Change the laptop resolution to 1024x768. Then connect it to the turned on projector and press the FN F8 keys.

That didn't work. I also have noticed when i drag my mouse over a link that it makes the pointer graphics big and distorted.
When I plug my project in the resolution automatically resizes to 1024x768. pushing the key combo you mentioned doesn't change anything. I'm using the same PC with a Dell 3200 MP now, and it does the exact same thing which leads me to believe it's an update. I've changed no settings in between the time it has worked and now.
