Semi-fix for the "no picture" 2200MP problem
For the past few months, I've started to encounter the same problem with my 2200mp that i see a bunch of people on this forum have posted about - sometime, of course right after the 1 year warranty expired, my 2200mp decided not to completely boot up and display an image. I'd plug it in, push the power button, hear it try to boot up, displays a very dim image and just remains like that. At this point i couldn't push the power button to turn it off because it did nothing so i had to unplug it, then plug it back in and try all over. Sometimes it would kick in and start to work, but it's been getting progressively worse. The last 3-4 nights that i've tried, my trick didn't work. So tonight i decide to take it down from it's mount (mounted upside down) and try powering it on right side up. Guess what, it worked! Shut it off, let it cool for a bit, tried it again, powered right up. Flipped it upside down, and it would not power completely up after several times. Flipped it right side up again, powers up every time. I cant understand what effect turning it right side up would help it boot up all the way, but it does on mine. I've done just about everything i've read about on the forum about these projectors - changed the bulb, taken it completely apart and blew every piece of dust out of it, re-seated all cards and plugs... nothing helped, except this. If any of the others that are having the same problem and it's hung upside down, give this a shot. Hopefully we can come up with a solution since most of us are out of warranty and Dell wont/cant give us any support and, since i'd rather not blow another $1k like i did under 2 years ago. I spend about $75k/year on Dell equipment for my company but would think twice about which projector manufacturer i would choose next. There's seems to have been too many problems with these models and Dell just ignores the issue. Interesting. Good luck.
