S500WI - Blank screen and mouse cursor is messed up

Hi there.

I need help. One of our customers has 3 S500WI projectors and we can't use it in wireless mode on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. On Snow Leopard X 10.6 it runs flawlessly. When you connect through created icon screen becomes blank and mouse cursor mess up the projection.

Already tried Dell erratic mouse fix and the problem stills...

Somebody have some idea to help me?

Thank you.

Patrick

HI Patrick,

Did you ever manage to get this problem solved? If you mean that you are getting a plain black screen with a 'trailing' mouse cursor then we are having exactly the same problem here when connecting wirelessly with the new Mac Book Pro on OSX Lion.

Many thanks,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

We still have the same exactly issue. According information that I've collected with Apple this issue will be solved with new OSX Mountain Lion. Until then there's nothing we can do about it.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the update. What a disappointing show from Apple :-(

Hi Patrick,

Sorry to bother you again. We have our s500wi's up and running, connected to our MacBook Pro's via the regular VGA adapter. Our USB pens are working wirelessly (as we have a USB connection from the projector to the laptop itself) but for some strange reason they are not calibrated. Dead centre they are spot on, but the further you move away from the centre of the screen, the further the cursor moves away from the nib of the pen itself. This happens whether you go in a straight line to the top or bottom of the screen or to the corners.

Strangely enough, we don't have this problem on our Windows desktops.

I know these things are supposed to be 'self-calibrating' but apparently not! Have you had this issue yourself or know of any solution?

Many thanks again,

Dave.

Hi dave,

Sorry but I can't help you because I've never tested on VGA or any other connections except wireless. Through wireless it works flawlessly except on Mac OS X Lion.

Did you try to connect Dell? Maybe they have a known solution to your problem.

Regards,

Patrick

The issue is that there is a scaling factor for the mouse HID on Mac systems as a default. The fix for this is available on support.dell.com. Download the file that says scaling fix and install on your Mac. This should take care of the mouse cursor being messed up.

Thank you!
