S300Wi problem
Hi,
We just purchased a Dell S300Wi for testing. When i plug in a laptop using the VGA cable and Usb cable (For interactive) it works really well.
But when i connect the Pen using our network or using the wireless feature of the Projector, i can move the mouse cursor but it will not recognise Mouse clicks. I notice a pause for probably half a second and then the mouse cursor moves but does not send the mouse click. This is happening for both the buttons and the nib.
The following senarios have been tested with my results.
Directly Cabled in using VGA and mini usb cable - Works flawlessly
Directly Cabled using VGA and wireless interactive pen connection - Mouse cursor moves but cannot mouse click
Directly Cabled using VGA and network interactive pen connection - Mouse cursor moves but cannot mouse click
Direct Wireless connection using built in Wirless and usb connection - Works Flawlessly
Direct Wireless Connect for both VGA and interactive pen - Mouse cursor moves but cannot mouse click
Network connection for both VGA and interactive pen - Mouse cursor moves but cannot mouse click
So as you can see the only way the interactive pen works is if i plug in the usb cable associated with the pen. This is fine but i would like some insight into why the pen wont fully work over wireless/network. Or perhaps i have missed something. I have downloaded the software and followed all the steps in the manual.
While i'm here i will also ask where to download Firware updates for the projector? I have tried Dells Drivers and Downloads section but could not find anything (Have firware updates been released?)
Thankyou in advance

I am having the same issue as Shaun.
Also, the screen freezes when I am in interactive mode unless I go into the Conference Control page and choose the machine there. I am trying to get this setup properly over an Ethernet LAN connection so that we do not have to mess with wires once it is mounted in the ceiling.
I thought it may be a firewall or routing issue until I tried directly linking to the projector via wireless with no other network connection and it had the same issue. If the pen does not work properly over Wireless/LAN I do not see the point in having Wireless/LAN at all as I will still have to run wires to the machine.
I have two of these to setup in our conference rooms and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Currently using the following firmware:

WHY IS THERE SITLL NO RESPONSE TO THIS!?
I have discussed with Dell support over the phone and they have no idea what to do either but this is clearly a common problem. I am very disappointed in this hardware purchase and am contemplating a return of all hardware and related mounting brackets, etc as I have still not installed due to this issue. What's the point of having a wireless interactive projector if I have to run a USB cable to the laptop in order for it to work?
Is this really how the machine is expected to work?

BUMP
Have tried factory reset to no avail.
Have even tried using the software from a s500wi to no avail. (PS. we have a s500wi and it works fine)
Is it possible for a Dell Rep (or anyone for that matter) to answer this issue?

Have you found any answers to your questions? I am trying to figure this projector out. The interactive pen seems very difficult to set up.

Sorry no, I still haven't received an answer. I have a stack of these projectors wasting space in my office.

Keep us updated! Also, has anyone got the interactive pen to work on a Mac? I'm running OSX Lion and the pen doesn't work.

I have found out a great deal about these new Dell S300wi projectors. The projectors work great in wireless mode, if you don't want to use the interactive funciton. The computer connects easily to the projector once you have downloaded the software, and multiple computers can connect at the same time. Great for the classrooom environment like I am doing. Students are able to show me their work quickly and easily. You can also put the projector into conference mode, and control who connects to the projector, and when.
Interactive function works like this. You can connect to the projector using VGA, or wirelessly and the visual part of the presentation will work perfectly. The interactive function is fed back to the computer via mini-USB. If you try to connect to the projector in interactive mode wirelessly, the image on the projector freezes. Interestingly, the interactive pen does work if you point it at the screen, however, only the cursor on the laptop moves. DELL has been very good with me. I have been in contact with Dell since we got these projectors. I don't want the headaches of cables once I have it mounted above the whiteboard of my class. Dell is actively working on a firmware update that will solve these problems. It seems that this problem does not affect all of the S300wi projectors. Does anybody have a projector that work in interactive mode wirelessly? If so, can you post a reply and explain what you did to get it to work.

Anyway, the new driver works great! Other improvement like 1) Interactive mode works via Wireless on Mac now. 2) Video frame rate improved via Wireless on Mac too. Streaming movie now acceptable. 3) Less driver crashes in Wireless mode.
