running an Epson projector through a Dell inspiron 1150

Question

I have previously used the Inspiron 1150 to present powerpoint presentations, with the Epson projector.  However, this time I hooked up and the system is telling me that the projector isn't supported any longer.  I haven't changed any of the configurations on my laptop.  Any idea what would cause this to happen?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

tcfw2003, Ok, so you connect the projector to the PC blue VGA port and then press the FN CRT key combo. What is the exact message on the projector?

the only message is a flashing statement of 'not supported'.  The presentations all work on the laptop, however it will not transfer to the projector.
