Resetting the lamp on 2300MP

I was getting a washed out image from my projector and my lamp was about 1-1/2 years old so it made sense to go ahead and buy a new one.  I have replaced the lamp, but it is not allowing me to reset the lamp from the menu.  The image starts out really nice, but it then starts to get washed out, gets a little shaky and then the screen goes black and the lamp light is illuminated.  The light stays lit and I have to ultimately unplug the projector to shut it down.

Any ideas?  I am getting really frustrated with Dell as a company and this seems to just be the icing that will move me to on to a new provider.
