Need Help Getting Signal to my Projector
I didn't see any similar problem in any of the other posts -- perhaps I could get some help with this one.
My wife just purchased a Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook with the MS Vista Operating System for using in her classroom at school. When she plugged in the projector that she used on her old notebook, an Infocus Model LP130, to the Insprion, it gave her a message that she needed to install the driver for the projecter. After doing this (we downloaded the driver from the Infocus website), the message appeared that the driver installation was successful. But, when we turn the Inspiron on with the projector connected and on, the image still shows up on the notebook screen, not the projected image (the message "no signal" displays on the projected image). What do I do? Go in and reconfigure to send signal to projector? If so, how do I explain this to my wife to do each time she has class?
The old laptop would automatically send the signal to the projector if the projector was plugged in (and the laptop screen would be blank while doing so). The projector would plug into that laptop with a common monitor jack. There is no such jack on the Inspiron 1501, so she's using the supplied USB connector (the projector cord has dual connectors).
Thanks for the help. You seem to know your stuff, Chris-M.

* Power the Inspiron 1501 on
* Connect the projector to the blue VGA out on the Inspiron 1501
* Power the projector on
* On the Inspiron 1501 -
- Press Fn F8 = signal for Inspiron 1501 and the projector
- Press Fn F8 again = signal for the projector only
- Press Fn F8 again = signal for Inspiron 1501 only
