Mouse stopped working

I was working on my computer using my (corded) mouse when suddenly I heard the distintive "bing" the computer makes when you plug in or unplus the mouse or flashdrive. The light went off on the mouse. I plugged it into the other outlet and it still does not work.  Will a mouse "die"? Any advice? Please help. I don't like using the touch pad!

Thanks!

candyb,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Yes, mice will go bad and will need replaced. Before buying another mouse you may want to test out your usb port on the computer; that the possible bad mouse was connected. You can also plug the same mouse into another computer to see if it still works. To test our your usb port try plugging another USB device into the port. If it works then you may want to purchase another mouse.

Thank for the info. I had already tried out the usb port with my printer and also plugged in the mouse to the other port. I finally tried another mouse from another computer and it worked. So I'm headed to the store to buy a new one. Thanks.
