Latitude D430 laptop won't project using a Dell 2400MP projector

Hi all,

I've had my Dell Latitude D430 laptop for over a year now and successfully used it with many different projectors. However, the other day I tried to hook it up to a Dell 2400MP (using the VGA input) and my laptop failed to detect the projector. The symptoms are that when I press Fn-F8 to toggle between the laptop's LCD screen only, LCD + external and external display only, the laptop's LCD screen just flashes briefly, as if nothing is plugged into the VGA socket at all. The projector doesn't react at all, continuing to scan for sources.

I've tried the following:

* Manually adjusted my laptop resolution to 1024x768 (the refresh rate is already set to 60Hz).

* Tried powering the laptop up with the projector switched on and connected, but the laptop just starts using its LCD screen and once again, acts like the projector isn't connected.

* After reading that the problem may be low voltage in the VGA cable and that using an AC power source for the laptop may solve it, tried the above with the laptop plugged into the mains.

* Checked that I'm running the latest graphics card driver - the Dell support site tells me that I am.

* Updated my BIOS to revision A08 (I was getting desperate at this point ;-).

I'm at a loss as to what else to do. My laptop is fine with other projectors and monitors, and other Dell laptops (admittedly not D430s) can use the 2400MP projector just fine.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can try?

Thanks,
Gav.

Anyone had any similar experiences or have any suggestions of what else to try?

Thanks,

Gav.

I'm assuming you are using VGA.

Turn off the auto signal search and defaul them on VGA.

Go to display properties on your notebook and try to extend the video only to the projector. Make sure the res = 1024 x 768

Did you ever find a solution to this issue?  I am experiencing the exact same thing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Having the same problem with a D430 attached to an Epson EMP 730. Error says 'Not Supported'

The Epson works ok with a D630.

BUT the D430 works ok with a NEC projector.

Tried updating the BIOS, Video drives, changing the resolutions. Nothing works.
