Latitude 610 when connected to Projector makes Apps zoom to maximum

Hi,

I have a staff member with a Dell D610 and everytime he connects it to a projector and hits the Fn+F8 key, every application that has a zoom option will freak out and go to maximum zoom (500%)

Have tried different resolutions on notebook before connection projector but still happens. Then even when disconnecting proj and returning to notebook display the apps still zoom to maximum???

Anyone got any thoughts?

D. xx

Thank goodness I'm not the only person with this problem!
Sadly, I don't have an answer, but I have the *EXACT* same thing happening with a co-workers laptop.  I can't seem to find a solution at all.

This happens in outlook messages, PDF's in Acrobat, word documents.  Its like somehow whenever a projector is attached (and just via tha VGA cable!) the laptop just think it should zoom things.  This is extremely frustrating for my co-workers.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Help?

HOW TO FIX THE PROJECTOR ZOOM PROBLEM ON YOUR DELL LAPTOP

?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />(at least this worked for us)

Go to Start

Then Run

In the Run dialog box type msconfig and click OK

The System Configuration Utility comes up.

Click on the tab marked Startup:

This lists all the programs that start when your computer starts.  Some of these may cause problems so we uncheck ones we don’t want running automatically at startup.

Expand the command column in the middle by clicking between the columns right at the line between command and Location. So you can read it.  Look for a program that loads a video utility for ATI or possibly nvidia.  For example:

Uncheck the box (in this case it’s atiptaxx) and click OK

When it asks you to restart, restart

?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" />

Assuming you have a MS external keyboard attached, uninstall the MS software that came with it.  This should fix your problem.  Apparently, the F8 key gets "stuck" from a software perspective and the applications think you want to zoom when you have a projector connected.  Odd that it doesn't happen when the projector is detached...
