Lamp replacement on 3200MP
The replace lamp light on the projector came on and I put in the extra lamp that came with the unit. The same result was obtained. The light still comes on. Is there a shelf life on the bulb? How can I tell if the projector only needs a lamp and not something else? The projectors green indicator lights and fan still work properly. Thanks, BJBarnes

1) How old is the unit?
2) Has the unit ever been opened to thoroughly vacuum the interior, and all the vents, to eradicate blocking dust?
3) Has the Capacitor been examined to determine whether or not it has become mis-shapen, melted, etc?

The unit was purchased in 2004. There was very little dust in it once I opened the top. I know an overheated capacitors appearance, but I don't see one. Where would it be located in this projector? Thank you for your help!

Did you remove the "little dust"?
Did you examine all the side air vents, to determine if they were clogged with accumulated dust?. Were they also wiped clean or vacuumed?
For the images of the Dell capacitor, go to Google images and google capacitor Dell 32000MP
(According to various posts, taking apart the projector to access a view of the capacitor, might require specific types of tools, screwdrivers etc.,)
And to avoid accidently breaking delicately positioned components and attachments, best to google for dissembly instructions.
I've read of users replacing a "10" capacitor, with a "16" capacitor, as a pre-emptive tactic against recurrence of capacitor failure. The reports say some degree of advanced soldering experience is required.
I look forward to your reply.
