Dust in 2300mp FIX

Hello,

I was reading these forums after recently discovering a LOT of dust in my 2300mp thus making the picture unwatchable at night.

I didn't see anyone with any solutions besides using compressed air in nonspecific places, and dell wasn't going to help me, so I took the thing apart myself and found out where to fix it.

If you take the case off the unit, which involves a minimal amount of visible screws, you can get to the top board. You have to take off the top of the projector with it's buttons, but it's just a ribbon cable connecting it.

Under that part is the main board of the unit, below which the serial-looking connectors are. Take the mount screws off those, and disconnect the two cables that connect on the same side of the main board(Underneath) where those serial interfaces are.

If you lift the main board off high enough, and put it over to the side, you can access the top of the lens further in the unit. There is a black plate with rubber gasket with two screws on it. Open this.

Inside this you will see the place where the dust is collecting, toward the back of the unit. I used a Q-Tip. You can use whatever you feel comfortable with. Clean this, and reassemble.

Done, you should no longer have those stupid blobs on the screen. And it's worth doing yourself if you feel comfortable, because Dell sure isn't going to do it.

Hope this has been some help, and made your experience less frustrating than mine was. Without the dust this is a darn good looking projector with a sweet picture.
