Displayed image is angled way too high.

I have this same problem with a 4100MP and a 3300MP. I've measured it out and 12 feet from a 6x6 screen and sitting on an almost 3 foot high table the image is shooting so high I have to stack books underneath the back of the units to bring the image down off the ceiling and onto the screen is should be shooting towards. I see they have an adjustment arm on the front of the unit(s); they really should've put that on that on the back feet. Has anyone actually needed the image to display any higher? I mean really, it's ridiculous. Our NEC & Sanyo projectors have no problems (and must actually be raised a little to display properly) in this exact same set up. I call into Dell Customer Service and they claim they've never heard of the problem, which is silly since I read all kinds of comments talking about this exact same issue on some projector rating websites. (Dating back into 2004) So anyway, does anyone have a solution to this problem? Stacking books and things underneath the projector really destroys the whole professional look I've got going in these meeting rooms.

AvTechBarry,

These projectors were designed to be used upside down mounted from the ceiling which would then give you the correct thrown image. If you cannot mount the projectors, you must move them closer to the screen. I know that is not what you wanted to hear.

Well thanks for the response, a non solution isn't what I wanted to hear, you're right. We typically use much "beefier" (couple $K per, multi-K lumen) units if we mount them permanently to a ceiling. e.g. - 5100MP. The impression we got on these units was they were made in more of a portable unit style. Small compact cases, that don't get damaged shipping around the US etc. All the default settings are set up to not be used in a ceiling mounted application. Not to get off these two specific projectors but I have the same problem with our 3400mp unit which is downright TINY. I don't see why people would really use such low lumen projectors with poor (I can't remember the name of the word that basically means-the brightness difference between the edge of the projected display and the center of the projected display) that are so small (8"x6"x2.5"-that's in INCHES, 2.4lbs) permanently mounted onto ceilings. Dell has laptops bigger & heavier than that. It's widely advertised as "Dell 3400MP XGA DLP Ultra-Portable Projector", and is listed under the "Ultra mobile projectors" tab on Dell's own website.... ? ProjectorCentral.com specifically states "The 3400MP is not designed for ceiling mount application." http://www.projectorcentral.com/Dell-3400MP.htm
But if that's the line Dell's going to tow, not much I can do about it aside from warning other potential customers of this huge downfall.

I have a similar problem.  We mounted a 2400MP to the ceiling today.  The projector hangs approximately 12 inches from the ceiling, and is about 15 to 18 feet from an 84" wide (side to side, not diagonal) screen.  We had to tilt the projector (which is mounted upside down, of course) toward the ceiling slightly to get the inverted image to be positioned correctly on the screen.  Isn't there a way to adjust or compensate for this?  Seems like one should be able to adjust the tilt of the beam of projection.  No?
