Dell D620 with Dell 5100MP or Dell 207WFP or Dell 228WFP

We have several D620 with Intel 945GM graphics running at 1440x900.

We want to clone the laptop display. We do not want to extend the desktop. I have the following external Dell display devices.

Dell 5100MP projector ( Ultimate Performance & Versatility - from Dell site), a Dell 20" 207WFP or Dell 22" 228WFP widescreen. Note one device at a time.

Silly me I thought this would be easy.

If we do a Fn F8 it displays the resolution but does not fill the whole screen on both of the Dell LCD screens. It misses approximately an inch from the top, bottom and both sides. Maybe I should have purchased a 17" display instead. I have tried three different display drivers and have the A08 bios installed.  If I drop the resolution it will display 1280x768 on full screen.

I also get the same effect on the Dell 5100MP. IE it uses only part of the screen missing maybe 12" top, bottom and left and right sides. If I try the 1280x780 on the projector it cuts off the left part of the display. This project supports 1400 x 1050 native. Surely it should just work sync to a resolution.

I have called Dell support and I'm not getting anywhere. Please help.

Thanks.

websle,

You must choose a laptop resolution that is 4:3, not a widesceen resolution. In otherwords, experiment, go down to 1024x768, press Fn F8. what does it display? Keep moving up the resolutions notating which ones give you fullscreen, etc.

Thanks for the advice.

The only resolution that works on D620 and D630 is 1024 x 768 projector and 1280 x 768 to the LCDs. This is very disappointing considering we purchased the projectors and screens for the higher resolutions.

I have tried a Dell M90 laptop and this manages to output 1440x900 to both LCDs and the projector in full screen.

This indicates that it is a problem with the D620 and D630 latitude. Again I would expect better.

websle,

Please ask the other customers on the Notebook Video board. Maybe they know of a way to generate the higher resolutions. Also, the Notebook Liaisons will see your post there.
