Dell 5100MP projector

I have (2) dell 5100mp projectors out of a fleet of (8) that have suddenly developed an issue. they fail indicating lamp failure and lamp  alarm.

When they ae unplugged from power they return to standby and will sometimes run correctly until they are powered down, at which they then indicate

lamp failure and lamp alarm.  From reading several users forums, I understand this problem has been noted by several owners.

A possible fix is a driver upgrade from 1.0 to 1.6 which does not appear to be available from dell, There was some indication that the user would have to

return the projector to dell for the upgrade.  Can you either confirm or deny this, and shed some some light on a possible solution before I rip the other (6)

down and replace them with another brand
