Dell 2300MP projector not working with desktop computer

Hello all,

I have a Dell 2300MP projector which works perfectly in cloned monitor mode with a 3-year-old desktop computer running Windows XP with an ATI card. I have very recently bought a new desktop running under Windows XP (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit) (dual boot) with a GTX470 NVIDIA graphic card . After three hours of trying, it has been impossible to make the projector work with this computer.

The projector is not recognized neither in WinXP nor in Win7 (only recognized as "non PnP generic monitor"). The connexion is via a D-sub to D-sub cable. Two monitors work OK as cloned desktops in the computer, and the projector works fine in the old computer, but the projector does not work in the new one. It keeps showing the blue screen and the "Searching for signal" message regardless of what I do and how I try to configure it.

These are the components of the new computer:

- Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz

- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3

- Graphic card: Gigabyte GTX470 1280MB GV-N470OC-13I V2.0 with latest drivers from NVIDIA installed

- Operating system: Windows XP SP2 (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit)

Is there any incompatibility between this hardware and the projector? Is it possible to fix the problem? Any help would be geatly appreciated.

Best regards,

        Jose M (Villota77)

I've had the same problem with multiple nVidia video cards using this projector, but it seems to work fine with ATI and Intel video adapters.  There is no firmware for the projector to correct this compatibility issue, and I've had these problems across multiple years and generations of nVidia video cards.

I've just found it won't work with an ATI FirePRO V3700 as well, so I appears there's no guaranteed options with this projector.  If the projector won't work with it, it can't even sync to the logo screen during Windows startup.
