Dell 2200 MP--Projector Not Reading Signal from Dell Laptop

Hi there,

I am working at a school that has Dell 2200 MP projectors which I have inherited. I have no experience with them and am trying to get up to speed quickly. I have two projectors which are not reading the signal from the laptop that I have been using. Both of these pieces of equipment are desperately wanted by teachers, but I can't get them to them if they can't display anything!  I work in a public school in CA that does not have money for upgrades so will have to do my best to keep these up and running.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting advice for a newbie? I have tried the Control + F8 button and it hasn't helped. I have connected the computer to the projector using the VGA cable.
