Dell 1800MP Remote not advancing slides

Question

How do I get the (brand new) Dell 1800MP to advance PowerPont slides using the remote control?  I have the USB cable plugged in, and the other remote control functions work, such as the screen controls, etc.  But it does NOT advance or move back slides.  What is going on?

DeanoUSA00100, When trying to advance slides, what buttons on the remote are you using? You should be using Page Up and Page Down.

Hi, ChrisM!  Yes, I was using the proper buttons.  But I found out how to fix the problem:  Just unplug the USB cable from the laptop, wait a few seconds, then replug the cable.  Presto!  Within a few seconds, the remote works!  Thank you for your help, anyway.

I am now having that problem and have plugged in the cable. . . Is there anything else I can try??  All of the other buttons work on the remote, but it doesn't seem to connect to the computer for the page up and page down.
