Dell 1200MP Problem Blanking on OSD and/or Signal

This is a second attempt at posting -- not sure what happened on the first.

Anyway, I purchased the Dell 1200MP projector for our church's children's program.  I'm not sure how it got to where it is, could have been some well meaning volunteer, but here's the issue.

When I first power on, I see the screen -- It appears to have been mirrored for reverse projection.

When I press the menu button to access the OSD, the screen goes blank.

Likewise, if I simply let it search to find a connected video source, at the point when it finds it the screen goes blank.

I would love to do a factory reset on it, but since I can't get to the OSD I'm stuck.

Is there some other method to perform a hard factory reset??

Oh, by the way, it just ran out of warranty last month -- of course!!

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums. I looked up you service tag and saw that you have contacted support on this issue. Did the tech have you remove all cables from the projector, including the power cable, then hold the power button down for 30 seconds?

Thanks.  Did try reseating lamp.  I'm guessing we are looking at out of warranty repair.

Its a bummer that the failure happened just a couple of weeks after the warranty ran out.  Why does it always seem to work out that way?

Thanks again.

You might try removing and reseating the Lamp, the lamp can trigger errors but the tech was probably right about it. Did you read our FAQ, there is info in it on getting out of warranty repairs.

I don't know, I have a $1500.00 LCD TV that quit 3 months after the warrenty expired. The 20 year old bought used for $30.00 TV we have in the guest room is still going strong. :smileysad:
