Correct Barrel Plug for 12VDC Screen Control

We have purchased three 5100MP projectors and electric screens. I ordered 1.7mm(ID)X4.0mm(OD)x9.5mm plugs as directed in the pathetic manual. The plugs do not make contact unless they are forced to the side while plugged in. Has anyone had any luck with a plug to get the 12 VDC output.

The cable I ordered was a CP-2194-ND from digi-key.

SenstarJW,

I am confused. Are you saying the power cord that shipped with the projectors were not working and that is why you got those?

As the title says, 12VDC Screen Control. The 5100MP has an output to control and electric screen. When the projector is on there is 12VDC at the output, when the projector is off the voltage is 0. This is a standard interface for interconnecting screens and projectors.

This has nothing to do with the 120VAC power cord for the unit. The funny thing is that after explaining this to Dell Customer service over the phone with excruciating detail, they still sent me a regular IEC power cord to connect the projector to 120VAC. I called them back once I recieved the power cord and explained the situation again and waited on the phone for 30 minutes. The final answer I got regarding this is that "some cords work, some don't it is the luck of the draw" I asked the support person if it would be possible to get a cable or find out the correct format of the plug and was told "probably not".

As luck would have it, there are other manufactures out there who actually support their equipment and have the foresight not to omit the 75 cent cable that is apparently impossible to get. I recieved a cable for every concievable video format with the unit, that must cost a considerable amount.

Yes, I am frustrated..............
