Be careful with Dell Support scams! It almost happened to me!

Hello,

I have a Vostro 1400 with Windows 7 and a couple of months ago the option to connect to an external monitor/projector stopped working. I tried everything but the computer wouldn't detect any monitor or projector. I decided to get the problem fixed by Dell Online Support, the technician told me the problem was that the software that controlled that was corrupt. He said only Dell could fix this since it was their software, I asked if restoring my computer to its original settings would help and he said no and the only option was to pay Dell $200! I do not have that kind of money so I rejected the solution, instead I decided to try restoring my computer (if it was software issue it should fix it) and so it did. Dell tried to charge me $200 for a "unique" software that the setup cds contain. Hope nothing like this happens to you, but I invite you to second guess Dell's "techincal" suport.

This all sounds rather strange. Private message me your service tag number so I can read through the internal logs.
