Greetings.
I am experiencing this same problem, and I have read similar messages here in the Forum.
I believe there is a significant problem with the projector power supply. Back in July, I tried to explain the problem to a Dell technician, but he insisted it was a lamp problem (only 210 hours). Since Dell's lamp warranty is only 90 days rather than by number of hours, I was forced to purchase a new lamp -- which exhibits the same restart problems.
My university supports well over 175 Epson projectors. There was one model of Epson projector a couple of years ago which exhibited this lamp restart issue. I seem to recall that the problem was the power supply which falsely reported a lamp over-current draw on startup. Epson admitted the problem (eventually) and provided a firmware update which solved the problem! Additionally, our vendor provides for a lamp warranty based upon hours, rather than date of purchase.
I am going to insist that my 2400 MP be replaced under warranty.
Best wishes. -Pete-

Follow-up:
After chatting with a responsive Dell technician, a replacement projector and lamp was shipped and arrived the next day! I was instructed to keep the lamp. We shipped to original projector back. So far, the replacement projector is working fine and we now have two spare lamps. More later. -Pete-
