2400MP Cutting off and displaying Orange lamp icon.

My office uses 2  2400MP dell projectors, both under 6 months old and they both suffer from the same problem.

After what can be any length of time on (can be 1 minute or 1hour) the projector will shut itself down and display the orange "bulb" indicator.  I've put new bulb's in and still get the same problem.
I've found that physically unplugging the projector from the mains and the plugging it in again will clear the orange indicator and the project will then usually work for a longer while (like 2 hours or so)

Any Ideas...........So far i'm very very unimpressed with these projectors.

Gunnermatt,

* Press the menu button on the projector keypad
* Use the arrow buttons to select the Others option on the Main Menu
* Use the arrow buttons to select On next to Factory Reset to reset to the Factory Defaults

Any difference?

My School District is in a similar boat right now, we bought 80 Dell 2400MP's this year and have been mounting them in every classroom in the district. We have run across a handful at each site though that do that exact thing, but we have always been able to fix the problem by simply replacing the bulb. These projectors would typically last 2-3 days then the Orange light would come on, we'd unplug power cord to reset it, and it'd work for a few more days, sometimes couple weeks and then do it again. But after buying new bulbs for a few of them, we haven't had the problem return on any of the fixed ones, and it's been 3 months on some of them. Think we got a bad batch of bulbs in our bulk order, we actually have an open ticket with Dell, and they have us making a log of each occurance, of the lights coming on, and we're trying to get them to mass replace all the onces doing it. But like the Dell Rep above me wrote, make sure you factory reset them after changing the bulb, or it will think it's still expired

I am having the same problem with the Orange lamp light coming on - I unplug restart and get several minutes of use - lamp only has 505 hours on. I reset to factory settings per your suggestion - not help. I also noted a school post where this seems to be a chronic problem and Dell knows about it - who do I contact to see if this unit is one of the bad ones?

I have one of those 2400 MP Projectors. I replaced the bulb, it did not last too long and again the orange light came on. The bulb is still good. I followed the procedure for restarting but this projector is a bad engineered product! Shame on you DELL! Reading the posts it seems that many other people have the same problem. I will never buy a DELL product again!
