Question

The projector initially shows a light, then it goes very bright and goes blank. The 'temp' and 'lamp' lights on top are lit. It will not project anymore except for about 20 seconds. Help please! thank you.

I am having a similar problem.  Powers up, shows an image then after about 20 seconds powers down and the 'temp' light is illuminated.  I would certainly appreciate any help that could be offered.  I have a call pending to the service center.

I just started having the same problem. I start using it, then the temp light comes on and it shuts down like it is over heating??? yet it has only been on for like 20-30seconds, a minute tops! Any ideas?

No I havent, I went out and purchased a new projector b/c I didnt have time to wait. I got an Optoma which works great and is much smaller. I will call Dell and ask them too. I probably will send it back to be fixed, then turn around and sell it on eBay.

I talked to the service center and they tell me that this is something that requires the unit to be sent in. They have a minimum diagnosis fee of 135 dollars which can be applied partly to the repair if it is authorized. The repair can of course be considereably more. I tried taking mine apart and blowing out the dust but this didn't resolve it. It was a bit of a pain to get apart fully. I may try this again. Otherwise I may be in th market for a new projector. Have you had any better luck?
