2300 mp Dead a door nail

Was in the middle of a presentation this projector has been 100% reliable until, last Friday.  In the middle of the presentation no warning, no sounds dead Friday dead.  No lights, no sounds.  Let it cool down and then replugged.  It has been used less then 200 hours, cared for and nothing to show it was going to poo out on me at the worst time.  Called Dell, techno guys were no help and of course my warranty was out, but that wasn't what I needed.  Has anyone found a solution for this, like a reset or something, it appears to be a topic since 2003 here.  Thanks rj

hi,

had the same problem, took me 2 years to figure it out.

if the projector makes a ticking sound when it's plugged in, but does not power up - it's the power supply.

if you're good with electronic stuff, you can fix it yourself.  the problem is finding one.  i bought a used 2200 from ebay and was able to salvage the power supply and use it in my 2200.

if it doesn't "tick" it might be the module that powers the bulb.  that's easier to replace, but you'll need to get one from a working 2200.  that's not as easy to find.

you might want to consider buying a new projector.  i did this (recently. before i fixed the 2200) and now i have two nice projectors.  the new one is a viewsonic, same specs as the 2200, except it's a little brighter.

if you have any q's let me know.

good luck!

I have had a 'dead' experience, similar to those already mentioned. What frustrates me is that there doen't seem to be ANY 'service' from Dell . .  once the warrantee has expired, we are on our own.

is this what everybody else has experienced?

All my techie friends just say throw it out, don't buy Dell again . . .

I don't seem to have any helpful response other than form one fellow, whose  '2dell.co' email I happened to find.

To top things off, I just spent $300 for a new lamp, to put in a , now dead, projector . . .

Any suggestions ???
