2200MP Projector can't find source

2200MP projector used with Dell Latitude D630. Vista Business, VGA hookup between the two.  Laptop can "see" the projector through NVIDIA Control Panel.  Laptop can also project to external AOC monitor.  After startup and a loop through the source options, projector shows blue screen and "Searching for Signal...".  Have re-synced, have reset to factory default, have tried sourcing from the remote instead of the projector buttons, have tried on different laptop.  Suggestions??
