2200MP Dark Area Growing with Use

I've had my 2200MP for about 4 years. I had to send it off to get the color wheel replaced last year and one of the circuit boards. The project is ceiling mounted (upside down) and over the last 4 months this dark area appeared on the left of the image and has grown to about 1/3rd of the image fully from left to right over the last 4 months and continues to work its way to the right. I was told this could be the bulb so I replaced the bulb with no change. I'm guessing this may be some lens or something else in line of the optics that is getting hot and changing the color with each days use of 4-8 hours.

Can someone help identify what this problem is and if it is something I can repair myself?

Thanks!

keiken01,

We do not have internal projector parts. We would just replace the whole thing. Is it still under Dell warranty?

It's no longer under warranty and the unit is no longer made/sold. I had to send it to a 3rd party repair shop for the color wheel. I'm considering buying one off eBay for parts. The repair last time cost $420, which is about what I can buy a new one off eBay or a broke one for $150. I believe the 3rd party repair shop said this uses the same parts as the Optoma. They also told me that only a shop can get the parts, no do-it-yourself is allowed. Do you know if either of this is the case?

keiken01,

I do not know where a shop could get the parts.
