2200MP - can't find signal
If I plug my Xbox 360 into my projector using the composite adaptor and the RGB cable into the projector it works just fine.
If I take the composite adaptor off the RGB cable and plug it into my laptop, the projector can't find the signal.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? (And, better yet, how to fix it?)
Note, my laptop and projector were just fine for years, and I believe the one new thing is that I tried hooking up the Xbox 360 to the projector once, and its never worked again with the laptop...

Hi,
I wonder why you cannot connect 2 different sources to the projector at the same time, and switch between them using the Source button?
- see <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
e.g. connect the computer using the VGA cable and the XBox using the composite video cable, so that you have 2 video inputs into the projector.
Then I feel that you should be able to swap between them manually by pressing the Source button.
The other option is that the sync rate is different, and so you need to tell the projector to resync, which could be done using the Resync button.
I hope that this works for you.

Tony

Thanks for the advice. I need to clarify a couple things.
First, I'm sorry that I keep mislabeling things....
It is my VGA cable (not an "RGB" cable) and I believe it is the Component connection on my Xbox I'm referring to (the 3 plug one, one for each color - not a single RCA type jack for video).
As there is no component connection on my projector, I pipe the component (360) signal through the VGA cable using the adaptor supplied with the projector. This works, but the VGA cable by itself plugged into my laptop no longer does.
I will look into the resync issue...
--------------
nope, resync still doesn't work...

Hi hapycamper,
OK.
According to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/accessories/svideocable.htm , the xbox360 can output S-video video signal, and figure 2 on http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/acc/2200MP/en/install.htm says that the projector can take in S-video.
So maybe you could buy an xbox 360 S-video lead, and then use the S-video input on projector for the xbox and the vga for the laptop?
Does the VGA input work for the laptop by itself to the projector? If so, then the above might work.
I hope that this might help.
Regards,
Tony

Go to the device manager, remove the "PCI bus" entry from system devices, restart two times and have fun!
At least that's what did the trick for me. Got a similar problem with my Vostro (the beamer worked with XP, but not with Vista) and was close to go mad about it until some smart guy at Dell Germany had me try this. He wasn't sure about it himself, but it worked out just fine.
Let us know if it worked for you!
