1100MP - Powers on but lamp does NOT turn on

I recently purchased a 1100MP used. The lamp has about 200 hours left on it. About 75% of the time, when I plug it in this is what happens... All the menu buttons light up as well as the orange LEDs for about 2 secs. The lights go out except for the power button, which continues to blink. When I press power, I hear the fan start to spin, but the lamp never comes on. It appears to be frozen since at this point I cannot turn the projector off with the power button on the remote or the unit itself. I have to unplug it. If I plug it in again, it may begin to work, or it may not. I haven't determined a pattern. Is my lamp going bad or is the projector going bad? Thank you!
