Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Usually, the blank DVD's would already be formatted and ready for use since they are write once only disks. Please try creating the back up disk without formatting the DVD.

Hi,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
May I know the type of DVD disk your are using to create the back up disk? Please ensure you are using a blank DVD +R or DVD -R disk and not a re-writable disk (DVD RW). You must use write once disks. Re-writable disks are not compatible with Dell Backup and Recovery.

i've also got a problem with Dell Back up and Recovery System..
i get keep getting errros about toaster.exe and launcher.exe..
when trying to recover to factory state using this method, i got ‘an error occurred when creating the system partition’ whilst on the ‘preparing your hard drive’ stage, so i couldnt go forward with that. it doesnt repair it either cos of some problem with the partition table (mine is an MBR partition with 100MB recovery space). Dell backup and recovery also reports some errors in it and uninstalling/updating does not help. wish of course i’d created recovery media…
what can i do to fix it? can i do a clean install of it somehow? am currenly reinstalling everything on my Dell Inspiron 15 N5050 including windows 7. by the way, everything else re-installed ok except for this and Seagate firmware.
