My Dell – Missing features and repeated consent prompt
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with the My Dell application (previously Dell Optimizer/SupportAssist). I used to have four main sections, including Power Optimization, Audio, and Applications. Now, only the Color and Display option is showing.
Additionally, every time I open My Dell, I get the “Help us improve MyDell” window asking for my consent to data collection, even though I have already responded to it before.
This started after a recent Dell update. I would like to know how to restore all the options I had before and how to prevent this consent window from appearing every time I launch the program.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Sianeli:
Has your Dell service warranty expired yet? What is your Dell computer model, the version and OS build of your Windows operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver], and current BIOS version. To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date" in the summary.
I have an older Inspiron 5584 laptop that uses the "legacy" My Dell v2.x UWP app so I know very little about the MyDell v.3.3.x application described in the MyDell Version 3.3 User's Guide. Go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/ and enter your unique Service Tag to browse to the support page for your Dell computer model. Then choose the Downloads & Drivers panel and click the Find Drivers link under Additional Resources. If you view the "This Device" tab is the My Dell 3.3.54.0 application (MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_KV41R_WIN_3.3.54.0_A00.EXE, released 06-Sept-2024) in the list of Dell software and hardware drivers that are compatible wit your Windows OS and hardware components?
What version of My Dell and Dell Optimizer (if installed) are currently installed on your computer? According to the support article Transition to the New Dell Optimizer the new Dell Optimizer v6.x is replacing MyDell v3.3.x and many other Dell utilities, and it states that "installation of Dell Optimizer 6.0 or newer removes the older versions of any related applications". If you click the "Show All" link in the section titled "How does this version compare with the older software?" in that support article you will see that many of the features included in Dell Optimizer 4.2.x and MyDell v.3.3.x are no longer available in Dell Optimizer v6.x.
You can find more information about Dell Optimizer v6.x at Dell Optimizer 6.0 Overview and Common Questions, and release notes and a user guide for Dell Optimizer v6.1.1 (released 25-Jul-2025) are available at https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/dell-optimizer/resources/manuals. However, multiple users posting in roman_l's 07-Apr-2025 topic Dell Optimizer have reported problems using this application.
Once we know more about your computer model, etc. we might be able to tell you if a clean reinstall of My Dell or a switch to Dell Optimizer v6.x is your better option.

Hi, thank you for you reply. Here is the information you requested:
Dell model: Inspirion 15 3530 (i3530-7837BLK-PLUS) - i7-1355u, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD
Windows version and build: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 10.0.26100 (OS Build 26100.4946)
BIOS version: Dell Inc. 1.23.2
Current My Dell version: 3.3
Dell Optimizer version: Not installed on my system
The issue started after I used the My Dell Application Full Installer. Since then, the extra options (Power Optimization, Audio, Applications) disappeared and now I only see Color and Display. In addition, every time I open My Dell I get the repeated "Help us improve My Dell" consent window. even if I already accept or declined it.
I would like to know if I should try a clean reinstall of My Dell v3.3.54.0 (if available for my system) or if my Inspiron 15 3530 model is supposed to switch directly to Dell Optimizer v6.x, even if that means losing some of the previous features.
Thank you very much for you assistance.

Hi Sianeli:
If I filter for Applications on your Inspiron 15 3530 support page at https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/inspiron-15-3530-laptop/drivers it indicates both MyDell v3.3.54 and Dell Optimizer v6.1.1 are a match for your Win 11 OS and computer model. Just be sure to click the "This Device" tab and enter your unique Service Tag as shown in the image below to ensure both programs are compatible with your specific hardware components.
IMPORTANT: When you enter your Service Tag on your Inspiron 15 3530 support page the "This Device" tab presents a list of Dell software and hardware drivers that match your system components, but that does not mean they are required. Some of those compatible Dell programs may be unnecessary bloat that you don’t need to install, and some matching hardware drivers might already be installed on your computer. When you look for available updates on your support page it’s your responsibility to check your installed software at Settings | Apps and/or hardware driver versions at Device Manager to see what is already installed on your system.
If you prefer the additional features in the MyDell v3.x application I'd suggest you go ahead and uninstall your current (buggy) MyDell v3.x program and then download a fresh copy of the MyDell v3.3.54 installer (MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_KV41R_WIN_3.3.54.0_A00.EXE, rel. 06-Sep-2024) from your Inspiron 15 3530 support page. Save that .EXE installer to your Windows desktop, right-click, and choose "Run as Administrator".
Just note the support article Transition to the New Dell Optimizer shows that MyDell v3.x reached end-of-life on 23-Jun-2025 and will reach end-of-support on 31-Dec-2025, so it won't be long before you will have to switch to Dell Optimizer v6.1.1 anyway. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many favourable comments about Dell Optimizer v6.x posted in this forum, so if I were you I would try to keep MyDell v3.x running on your system for a few more months and hope that Dell makes further improvements to Dell Optimizer v6.x in the mean time.
I would advise you turn OFF the Windows Fast Startup power option as instructed in Option # 2 of Brink’s ElevenForums tutorial How to Turn On or Off Fast Startup and then re-boot a few times to ensure the setting change takes effect. The Fast Startup power option (also known as hybrid boot-up / hybrid shutdown) is enabled by default in Win 10 and Win 11 but it can sometimes interfere with the loading and initialization of drivers and services at boot-up and cause all sorts of unexpected glitches and problems with a variety of software programs.
If you continue to have problems running MyDell v3.3.54 or Dell Optimizer v6.1.1 post back and let us know what version of SupportAssist v4.x (if any) is currently installed on your system and if it functions as expected.
The main purpose of SupportAssist is to detect and install available updates for your Dell software and hardware drivers, run background hardware scans to proactively identify hardware issues, and provide a direct link to Dell support, while the main purpose of MyDell and Dell Optimizer is to allow you to tune your system power consumption and performance. Many Dell utilities are designed to perform different functions but share common components (e.g., Dell Core Services, Dell Client Management Service, etc.) and uninstalling a program like SupportAssist can sometimes inadvertently damage other Dell utilities.
NOTE: I removed all SupportAssist-related programs from my Inspiron 5584 after my service warranty expired because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM, CPU and other system resources. I also found the "system optimization" scans in SupportAssist (Clean Files / Tune Performance / Optimize Network) were too aggressive and had the potential to do more harm than good - see my 08-Feb-2025 post in ygil's BSOD Issues After Windows Updates.
