MS Works Suite 2002...Word problem

All of a sudden I can't open word, won't take any updates and can't uninstall it to reinstall.  Says msp files missing and I am out of options.  When I try to uninstall, the Word selection on the suite 2002 install disk has it shaded so I can't select it.  Where do I go to completely get rid of the files so I can do a new install?  I've gone to regedit and tried to find all the word files I can, but must be missing some.  Catch 22, can't install, can't uninstall.  HELP!

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

Can you tell us what started all this.  That might shed some light as to what is going on.

Used word a few days before and all of a sudden nothing.  I have not had any problems with XP or deleated any files.  Everything else on the computer works perfectly.  I check for updates everyday and download them.  I need to erase something that will make the computer think word is gone so I  can then reinstall it.  Bill
