Hi

This is usually done by Dell, after checking/validating ownership and sometimes at a cost.

You don't mention what the system is or which password is not known.

Please can you confirm the Make Model and OS, along with any configuration details like touch screen, backlit keyboard, SFF or tower etc etc.

For a Windows password reset .............

Microsoft account password reset

If it’s a Microsoft account and the PC can get online:

  • On the sign‑in screen, click I forgot my password under the password box and follow the wizard to verify by email/SMS and set a new password.

  • Or, from another device, go to Microsoft’s password reset page, enter your Microsoft account email/phone/Skype, receive a code, and then choose a new password.

  • After you reset it online, use the new password on the Windows 11 login screen.

Local account with security questions

If it’s a local account and you set security questions:

  • At the sign‑in screen, click in the password box, then choose Reset password when the option appears.

  • Answer your security questions, set a new password, and then sign in with that new password.

Local account with password reset disk

If you previously created a password reset USB:

  • Plug in the reset USB.

  • Enter a wrong password once so Windows shows the Reset password link, then click it.

  • In the Password Reset Wizard, select the USB, choose a new password and hint, then finish and log in with the new password.

Local account with no questions/disk (offline methods)

If it’s a local account, you don’t know the password, and there are no security questions or reset disk, you generally need recovery/installation media to open Command Prompt and change it. These methods work but should only be used on machines you own and are allowed to access.

Typical approach with Windows 11 installation/recovery media:

No one from Dell can send you a reset code directly. Password resets on a Windows PC depend on how you sign in.

If you’re using a Microsoft account
Go to the official reset page: account.microsoft.com/password/reset
Follow the steps and you’ll receive a code on your registered email or phone.

If you’re using a local account
There’s no code system. You can try:

  • “Reset password” option on the login screen (if security questions were set)
  • Another admin account on the same PC
  • Or use recovery options like a password reset disk (if you created one earlier)

If none of these work
You may need to reset Windows, which can remove apps and data.

Simple answer: Dell cannot send a reset code. The process is handled by your Windows account type, not Dell itself.
