Dell Command Update
Hi
I am building laptops using Autopilot(whiteglove) and I want to know if its possible to run the dell command update during the initial setup so that when I handover the PC everything is installed and all Dell updates applied.

I know this doesn't answer your specific question, but I thought you might want to know - Dell is discontinuing Dell Update and Alienware Update by the end of this year, and recommending to use SupportAssist instead. (Just noticed this myself today when running my usual weekly updates). I can't 100% tell yet if this also includes Dell Command | Update, but I think it might.
From https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000149088/dell-update-overview-and-common-questions
The (seemingly outdated) article at https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000177325/dell-command-update does not mention that though, so I'm unsure if all versions are affected or not.

Hi @SomeDave :
I suspect that article is referring to the classic "old-style" Dell Update v4.x line of Win32 applications (e.g., Dell Update / Alienware Update / Dell | Command Update) for Win 8.1 and higher. Dell stopped releasing updates for most of these classic "old-style" Win32 applications over a year ago.
As far as I know Dell will still be supporting the "new-style" Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.x UWP (Universal Windows Platform / Microsoft Store) line of apps for Win 10 and higher beyond December 2024.
See my 13-Apr-2024 post in AdrianeS' Dell Update vs Dell Update for Windows Universal for more information.

Hi @SomeDave :
I owe you an apology. My Dell Update for Windows Universal app just self-updated to v5.3.0 today and there is now a warning on the main GUI stating that this app will reach end of support at the end of 2024.
I refuse to re-install SupportAssist on my Inspiron 5584 [it's too buggy, the "system optimization" scans (Clean Files / Tune Performance / Optimize Network) are too aggressive, and it hogs too much RAM and CPU - see my 12-Jul-2021 post <here> about the over-aggressive registry cleaner included with the Tune Performance scan for one example) so it looks like my only option after Dec 2024 will be to occasionally check the Drivers & Downloads tab of my Inspiron 5584 support page to see if any new updates have been released.

@lmacri - no apologies necessary. Dell has created confusion surrounding this, and there seems to be little to no useful information or updates from them about this.
In fact, I came to this forum this morning to start a topic just like you've already done at Support for Dell Update / Alienware Update Ending December 2024 , because I'd really like to see Dell make up their minds and just provide us with one solid RELIABLE driver/firmware update utility.
I'll chime-in on your thread over there, but I have removed the Dell Update app from my (very expensive) XPS 15 9520 , as well as my cheaper Inspiron systems, because I use my systems for long hours of mission-critical work every day and cannot take a chance on something just borking my PC's on December 31st. I'm reluctantly using Dell SupportAssist because, even though it's always been buggy in every version, I don't trust Windows Update (and other sources) to provide proper updates to some of Dell's proprietary drivers.

@SomeDave
Hi SomeDave:
I agree that clarification is required, especially if Dell computer models that are compatible with Dell Command | Update v5.x utilities (both "classic" and UWP editions) are included in this end-of-life announcement. See my 17-Dec-2024 post in my topic Support for Dell Update / Alienware Update Ending December 2024 for additional information.
The new support article at Alienware Update and Dell Update End of Life (EoL) Announcement states that "Those who use Alienware Update and Dell Update after the End-of-Life date no longer receives updates and may experience security vulnerabilities and performance issues". That gives me some hope that my Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0 utility will continue to function correctly a bit past the 31-Dec-2024 deadline, even if it won't receive product updates beyond v5.4.0.
