Why is my Dell V505 printing only images, not text (when it prints at all)
I was lucky enough to be given a brand new Dell V505 printer just yesterday (still in box, unopened).
I set it up, following the instructions, and I still can't get it to print properly.
Every time I turn it on (press the start button) it starts printing a test page, which surely can't be right (for one thing, it's slow and obviously using a lot of ink). Then it tells me there's an alignment problem (but no indication what to to about it, and anyway the test page looks okay to me).
When I try to print a page saved via OpenOffice, it mostly prints only any images on the page, no text at all (it printed one page correctly, don't know why). Often, when I've tried to print something, it just goes through the motions of printing and sends out a still-blank sheet of A4.
Also, it keeps telling me I need to download Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0, which I have done, and I've double-clicked on it. I presume that's okay otherwise (I think) it probably wouldn't be printing anything.
One other thing: on the control panel, it's showing MODE COPY, then MODE SCAN, then MODE FAX, then MODE SETUP, then MODE MAINTENANCE, then back to MODE COPY, etc. I'm completely new to this particular printer, but maybe there should be a MODE PRINTER? And maybe that's part of the problem.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem please?
Incidentally, my system is running Windows 10.
