V515W print head
Hi,
I have had this printer for exactly 2 years, and when it's working it prints great. It does use a lot of ink, but I don't print a lot.
One year ago the print head went out, it started printing color streaky. No amount of cleaning cycles would fix it.
Dell did cover that under warranty even though it was a week over the end of warranty.
I have exactly the same problem, and a new print head will cost me about $70.00 plus shipping I think.
I think that a 2 year life for a printer and a 1 year life for a print head is terrible.
I had 2 Lexmark printers that both lasted me over 8 years each. I wanted a faster inkjet and a scanner.
Should have stayed with Lexmark or gone with Canon.
I still have about 4 new ink cartridges, but I will toss the printer and go with another brand, and give away the ink.
I will never buy another Dell printer or recommend one.
Dell tech support has been great! The problem is with the printer not support.
Many times the lowest price is NOT the best deal.

Del,
I could not even try to answer that question. Not sure if the sensor would read or not.

delconed,
But you did kinda stay with Lexmark, since Lexmark made your printer for Dell. I have found a Replacement Printhead for less money than you quoted.

Rick,
Are the ink cartridges cheaper from Lexmark?
What model Lexmark printer is equal to the Dell V515W?
I think that any of the S330 thru S900 use the same supplies.
Thanks again,
Del

Del,
Lexmark makes made most of Dell's inkjet printers. I have these artciles that may help.
Cleaning the Printhead on Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers
and
Troubleshooting Printhead Problems on the Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers
The Printer Does Not Recognize the Ink Cartridge or Only Prints in One Color
That printhead has been used by other members.

Rick,
That is a great price!! Are you sure that it is the same printhead? It looks exactly the same.
I took the printhead out and flushed it out with warm water and then alcohol. No difference.
So you say Lexmark made printers for Dell. Not even close to the quality of the old Lexmark named printer.
I did not know that about Lexmark.
How did you cross reference the Dell printer to the Lexmark one?
Will the Lexmark ink work also?
Does Lexmark still make Dell printers?
Thanks,
Del (yes my nick name is Del) There is irony for you

Rick
I forgot about the sensor. I checked prices on the Lex site, and the ink is close to the price on the Dell site.
Thanks again for all the info.
