V515w not recognized as a wireless printer
I have a new laptop with Win 7 64 bit, and it will not recognize my old V515w multifunction printer.
It will not print a test page or check ink levels or any printer functions. There is a network printer in my printers that has a strange description of ET002000964713B.
It works fine as a USB printer. The printer sees the correct router and has the correct name.
I was never asked to enter the passphrase (password) like the XP laptop did.
My old laptop with XP prints fine as a network printer, no problems.
I have the new software and drivers I think. It won't download any firmware for the printer in
wireless mode. In USB mode it says all up to date for firmware.
Dell's tech support basically does not want to help me.
I have installed HP and Cannon printers for friends, and the tech support was a lot better.
I tried to do the Dell Sys Detect, and nothing happens.
I tried to download the download manager and it goes to a web page that has nothing to do with Download Manager.
Web site is very confusing when it comes to telling me what software I need to download.
After 4-5 times of deleting all old programs and printers and downloading different programs, I think I have the correct software.
Just for grins, I just tried to print a word document, and it prints.
I think I have the wrong Dell Printer Home software. Nothing works using that.
Any help is appreciated

DJ,
If you use Devices and Printers, when you click on add printer, it will show as ET002000964713B, don't ask me why.
If you use the instructions I list below, the printer will install and be names correct.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Start, control panel, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
If the printer is on your network, with the computer online, insert the Dell Printer disk, choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions.
If the printer is NOT setup for your network, on the printer, click on the wrench, look for reset wireless adapter back to factory and reset it. With the computer online, insert the Dell Printer disk, choose new installation, network and follow the instructions.
Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

Thanks for the info. One of my problems is that I can not locate the install cd that came with the printer 3 years ago.
Is there a way to download the cd?
Thanks again, I can always count on your info being right on.

Again R-Rick K is correct. I did follow your links and advice.
The printer is now installed as my network printer and it is called a v510 network printer, exactly as it should be. I must have downloaded the wrong drivers from the Dell site, and it let me install whatever I wanted.
Thanks again
