v313 prints with little gray striped boxes all over.
Just installed new black cartridge because old one stopped printing at all after about 10pp. This happens every time I install a new cartridge, even tho printer says there is plenty of ink left. 1st page printed OK then it printed with these little weird boxes. I aligned, & 1 pg printed OK then more boxes. I cleaned printhead but still printing boxes. This is final straw in endless problems with this lightly used crappy printer unless someone can help me. PLEASE.

frustratedbydell,
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected..
Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V313w Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer.
With the computer online, insert the Dell V313w Printer disk and reinstall the printer.
What happens?

Hi,
I would suggest you have to update the pritner firmware (Link: www.dell.com/.../dell-v313) and also try doing a printer default. If it doesnot work, Try removing the printhead and clean it with a lint free cloth. It could be an exess ink flow issue. If still no go and the printer is in warranty, contact Dell tech support to replace the printhead. If not under warranty, i suggest consider buying new printer. Getting a dell printer repaired is not worth the money.
P.S.- Before following any of the steps make sure if it is making copies without any problem. If it is not abel to make copies, then follow the above steps. If it is making fine copies follow the step given by RockSt☆r-Rick K .

ISo far, this seems to work; however, I have tried this in the past & after a few decent prints, the printer stops printing Black ink again, or gets streaks, etc., even with fairly new cartridges. I ordered an overpriced Dell cartridge to replace the generics I have been using. If that doesn't stop the constant problems I guess I will have to buy a new printer. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
It is not a problem with the printer or the cartridge. It has to be the print head. Usally the printhead gets ink blots due to constant use that prevents the ink flow. Cleaning of the printhead usally fixes the issue. Instead of spending more money on a new printer, consider cleaning the print head .
