Smeared labels with a C1760nw, suggestions?
I have long made bumper stickers with laser printers. Started out with a Lexmark, then went to a Canon D420. I take a legal size sheet of the outdoor vinyl label media from rippedsheets.com and print 3 (2&3/4" x 14") bumper stickers that I cut out from the legal sized sheet. I've always used the Heavy paper media setting because otherwise the toner doesn't fully fuse.
Recently I bought a C1760 and thought I'd see if I could print color bumper stickers. Problem is I get smearing at the top of the page....which is the right hand side of the printer as the media comes out into the output tray upside down. The first attempt was with the Thick paper in Properties settings and looked like this:
Second try was with the Labels media setting....much better but still smeared:
Is there another setting I should be using? Alternately, should I adjust the parameter setting for things like Fuser and BTR as described in pg 134 and onward in the C1760 manual?
The obvious answer is to fool around with all the possible settings, but the material is too pricey for that: $7/sheet of legal size!
It appears that toner picked up at the right hand edge of the drum is not being put down right away but sticks around and finally goes down the next revolution of the drum. What would cause that?
