Printer ethernet connection issue

I have a Dell laser printer that worked fine up until recently. Worked fine, now won't print at all. Best I can tell, there is an issue with the connection between the PC and the printer. Here's what I have tried so far...

**Re-installing the printer driver.

**Testing the connection through EWS and PING methods. Both failed.

**Examining the ethernet ports themselves. Green lights show on both the printer end and the PC end.

Before I re-installed the driver, the printer settings showed the printer was "offline". Now it shows "idle". When I try to print a test page, the document goes into the printer queue and then disappears almost immediately and the printer goes back to idle status. The printer is out of warranty (of course), so Dell Support won't help me. Can someone help?
