HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One not working with new laptop
my new laptop will not work correctly with the printer. it shows the printer correctly in devices. i have removed and reinstalled, checker spooler for issues any everything is a go..when i send a print command it shows in a print queue but will not print. i have to turn off the laptop and restart it and immediately it prints. i try with my phone and my old windows 10 HP laptop and send a print command they print immediately. so its the dell laptop with the problem..when i look at connected devices the printer (model hp3830) is is listed as active nut say "attention needed" spent an hour on the dell virtual support (cant find a human being to talk to) and go nowhere.

How is the printer connected to the system? USB or network (and wired or wireless if the latter)?

its wireless and both the laptop and printer acknowledge that they are connected. the fact that it will print after i restart the laptop says they are connected..but it will only print the single request then wont print again unless i shut off the laptop restart and it will print.

Have you installed the HP Smart App? It may provide you more insight if there is something set incorrectly on the printer itself.

Had the same issue with a different HP printer on my Dell. What fixed it for me was disabling the “Let Windows manage my default printer” option in Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Also, try setting the HP3830 as default manually. And make sure you're using the full HP driver, not just the basic one Windows installs. Hope that helps!
